21 Filipino seafarers rescued from Houthi-hit ship arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines —  Twenty-one Filipino seafarers rescued from the Houthi-hit merchant ship MV Tutor in the Red Sea arrived in the Philippines on Monday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

In a video sent to reporters by the DMW, the crew members onboard a flight from Bahrain International Airport were seen arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

According to a Facebook post by the agency, the seafarers will receive financial assistance worth P230,000.

Of the P230,000, it said that P150,000 came from the House of Representatives, P50,000 from the DMW itself, P10,000 from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and P20,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Before this, the crew members each received P30,000 or 192 Bahraini dinars, from the government of Bahrain.

Based on reports, Houthi rebels off the western coast of Yemen hit the Liberia-flagged Tutor with drones and missiles on June 12.

There were 22 Filipino seafarers on board the MV Tutor. Of this figure, 21 were rescued, while one remains missing.
