Filipino hurt in Hong Kong residential fire, confirms DMW
MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino was among those injured following the fire that broke out in a residential area in Hong Kong’s Kowloon District on Wednesday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed.
“One Filipino. But he is already a Hong Kong resident,” a source from DMW told INQUIRER.net in a mix of English and Filipino.
According to DMW, the injured Filipino was visited by a Migrant Workers officer who is “monitoring his condition.”
The agency said the Filipino is safe and stable, adding that he only sustained minor injuries.

Article continues after this advertisementAuthorities said the latest number of injured individuals following the incident has climbed to 34. Meanwhile, three males and two females were killed.
Local media likewise reported that the fire started at a gym on the first floor of the New Lucky House in the Jordan neighborhood. The building has 200 units and was built in 1964.
