BI arrests Italian pedophile in Cebu City

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday said it arrested an alleged Italian pedophile in Cebu City.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the fugitive as 57-year-old Stefano Todeschini, who was arrested last April 5 in Lahug, Cebu City.

He explained that Todeschini was arrested after a mission order was issued by the Italian embassy in Manila.

The said fugitive was also the subject of an Interpol red notice.

“This should serve as another warning to foreign criminals that the long arm of the law will catch them wherever they might hide,” Tansingco said.

According to the BI, Todeschini was charged before a court in Vicenza, Italy, for the rape and sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl.

Todeschino was found to have committed the crime against the girl multiple times.

Apart from his records, the BI also found that his Italian passport expired in May 2017.

Currently, the fugitive is detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending deportation proceedings.
