Cambodian man wanted by Interpol due to cybercrime apprehended at Naia

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday that a Cambodian wanted by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) for cybercrime was apprehended at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

According to the BI, 35-year-old Bai Longhao arrived in the country on March 21 from Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The BI said that it did not let Bai enter after seeing his name at the Interpol’s list. Bai was included in the list for “assisting in information network crimes” which was filed against him in China.

Chinese authorities said that Bai allegedly worked with fraudulent groups from April 2021 to March 2023.

Bai was blacklisted from entering the Philippines, the BI added.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco likewise said that the agency will work with the Interpol to prevent fugitives from entering the country.

“We will continue to work with our counterparts from the Interpol to ensure that foreign criminals are not able to sneak into the country,” Tansingco said.
