MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has deported a Chinese national as he was found to be on the Blue Notice of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

The BI said the 29-year-old man was intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) and immediately deported after arriving at the airport from Taipei, Taiwan, on March 26. The bureau said it is not disclosing the name of the Chinese national in compliance with Interpol protocols.

Interpol’s Blue Notice on the Chinese man was issued in November 2022 over a pending criminal case against him in Taiwan, according to the agency. He was charged in 2019 for allegedly selling his relatives’ credit cards to criminal fraud syndicates.

The man fled from China, and a criminal detention warrant was later issued against him.

Also on March 26, BI personnel arrested three Chinese nationals who tried to evade the agency’s counters at Naia.

Yu Yang, Wang Bo, and Zhang Yong were prevented from boarding their flight to Hong Kong, the BI said, adding that they have derogatory records and are subject to blacklist orders issued in 2023.

They allegedly attempted to slip past BI counters at NAIA when authorities spotted them.

“The attempted illegal departure of these aliens poses a threat to national security and public safety,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a statement last week.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to identify and apprehend individuals who attempt to circumvent immigration laws and regulations,” he added.
