BI arrests Taiwanese wanted for fraud

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Thursday said that it arrested a Taiwanese national wanted in Taiwan for fraud.

According to the BI, 42-year-old Chang Chia Wei was arrested on March 15, 2024 in Bamban, Tarlac.

BI Fugitive Search Unit Acting Chief Rendel Sy said that Chang has a warrant of arrest from the Shiin district prosecutor’s office in Taiwan.

As a result, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office requested for Chang’s arrest and deportation.

Chang was also an overstaying alien in the Philippines as his passport expired in 2023, the BI added.

The BI likewise said that Chang is detained at the BI’s facility in Taguig City pending his deportation.
