Indonesian President Widodo to visit PH from January 9 to 11

MANILA, Philippines — Indonesian President Joko Widodo is set to have an official visit to the Philippines from January 9 to 11.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will welcome Widodo.

“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is pleased to welcome His Excellency Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, for his upcoming official visit to the Philippines, scheduled on 9-11 January 2024,” said the PCO.

The PCO said Widodo and Marcos will be meeting on January 10.

“President Marcos Jr.’s meeting with President Widodo on 10 January 2024 is anticipated to take stock of the progress in Philippines-Indonesia relations following the successful state visit of President Marcos Jr. to Indonesia on 4-6 September 2022.

The PCO said that Widodo and Marcos will reaffirm their commitment to deepening the ties between the Philippines and Indonesia.

The President has been to Indonesia twice for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, which Indonesia served as the Chair for in 2023.

Indonesia and the Philippines will mark 75 years of diplomatic ties in 2024.
