MANILA, Philippines — An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia has died, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed Monday.

The DWM said that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances behind the death of Marjorette Garcia, who has been working in the Middle Eastern country since 2021.

“The DMW through its Migrant Workers Office in Al-Khobar Saudi Arabia (MWO-Al Khobar) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are working in coordination with the Philippine Embassy, as well as local police authorities in an ongoing investigation into the circumstances behind OFW Marjorette’s death,” it said in a statement.

“The DMW extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of OFW Majorette. We assure them of our continuing support during their time of grief and in the ongoing investigation,” it added without further elaborating on the case.

The DMW said MWO-Al Khobar and OWWA are coordinating with Garcia’s family regarding the return of the OFW’s remains to the Philippines.
