MANILA, Philippines — British Foreign Secretary James Spencer Cleverly will visit Manila on Tuesday, August 29, and is set to discuss bilateral ties between the Philippines and the United Kingdom (UK) with Filipino counterpart Sec. Enrique Manalo.
The DFA, in a statement on Monday, said that it has been seven years since a British Foreign Secretary visited Manila.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomes the visit of the Secretary of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, The Right Honourable James Spencer Cleverly, MP, to the Philippines on August 29, 2023,” said the DFA in a statement on Monday.
“Secretary Enrique Manalo and Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will meet to discuss PH-UK bilateral relations and exchange views on pressing regional issues,” it added.
According to DFA, the visit is anticipated to reaffirm Philippines – UK ties and demonstrate mutual cooperation between the two governments.
“[This is] in line with the PH-UK Enhanced Partnership, which was launched in November 2021,” DFA added.
