DMW’s Ople: Ranara family wants re-autopsy on slain OFW by NBI

MANILA, Philippines — The family of Jullebee Ranara is requesting for an autopsy on the murdered overseas Filipino worker (OFW) by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
This was revealed by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Friday as the remains of Ranara will be repatriated back to the Philippines tonight.
Ranara, 35, was a household service worker who was killed in Kuwait by the 17-year-old son of her employer.
“The family gave me permission to also share with you the information that they have requested an autopsy once the remains arrive,” DMW Secretary Susan Ople disclosed during a press briefing.
“So, magkaka-autopsy din dito sa Pilipinas (there will also be an autopsy here in the Philippines) to be done, I think, by the NBI,” Ople added.
The Kuwaiti media, citing an autopsy report, said last weekend that Ranara was raped and was pregnant.
Ople, however, said that she personally has “not seen official documentation” indicating that Ranara was raped or impregnated.
Ranara’s body was burned, her head was smashed open, and was abandoned in a desert in Kuwait.
The suspect has already been detained by Kuwaiti authorities.
The wake of Ranara will start on Sunday, January 29, according to Ople.
