MANILA, Philippines — The 17-year-old suspect in the killing of Jullebee Ranara, a Filipina overseas Filipino worker (OFW), has been arrested, the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait reported.
Initial information showed that the Kuwaiti suspect was apprehended and detained by the police.
“The Embassy greatly appreciates the swift action and response of the Kuwaiti Police, especially in the apprehension of the suspected perpetrator, and in the investigation of Ms. Ranara’s death,” the embassy said in a statement on Tuesday.
The embassy is still gathering information from Kuwaiti authorities about details of Ranara’s death.
The embassy will also work with the Kuwaiti government for the shipment of Ranara’s remains to her family in the Philippines as soon as possible.
“The Embassy and the Filipino community in Kuwait extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late Ms. Ranara as they mourn the loss of their loved one,” it said.
Ranara, 35, was a household service worker in Kuwait. Her charred body was found in a desert in the host country.
