MANILA, Philippines — Vietnamese Ambassador Hoang Huy Chung has paid a courtesy call on Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri at the Senate in Pasay City.
During their meeting on Monday, Zubiri and Hoang tackled ways to boost the strategic partnership between the two nations and discussed the Vietnamese parliamentary delegation’s visit to the Philippines on Wednesday.

President of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Vuong Dinh Hue, will lead the parliamentary visit.
The Senate President underscored the need to “expand exchanges between our parliaments and boost tourism and business opportunities.”
Zubiri lauded Vietnam’s steady economic growth, plans, and programs. The two officials also identified their long-term vision as a model for the Philippines.
“Vietnam’s policy on investments is to be emulated. You have the best foreign direct investments in the region,” the Senate President told Hoang.
For his part, Hoang is seeking better tourist exchanges between the Philippines and Vietnam as the latter’s people are looking to travel outside their nation since COVID-19 restrictions eased.

The envoy likewise expressed how Filipino teachers of the English subject are highly valued in their country.

Agricultural cooperation was also raised by Hoang during the courtesy call, saying that rice farming techniques were adapted from the University of the Philippines Los Baños’ International Rice Research Institute.
The two officials’ meeting was concluded with commitments to a continued partnership.
