MANILA, Philippines — The European Union (EU) has awarded Erasmus+ scholarships to 75 Filipino students, allowing them to pursue their MA and PhD studies in different universities across the EU.
Under the academic mobility program, the Erasmus+ scholars are set to travel to their respective countries in the coming weeks.
EU ambassador H.E. Luc Véron urged the Erasmus+ recipients to become “ambassadors of goodwill” to fortify relationships between the EU and the Philippines, adding that the scholars should “give back” to their country upon their return.
He also said that the Philippines is one of the countries who produced the most Erasmus+ scholars, ranking eight globally.
“The Erasmus+ programme gives life-changing opportunities for Filipino students to experience Europe’s academic excellence and culture, learning European languages and being integrated into the European society for one to two years,” the EU said in a statement.
