MANILA, Philippines — Five out of 18 Filipinos who contracted COVID-19 in Shanghai have already been discharged from a facility, a Philippine consul general there reported Wednesday.
Philippine Consul General in Shanghai Josel Ignacio also said that no casualties were recorded among Filipinos there.
“Sa kabutihang palad po, wala tayong casualty. Ang atin pong na-monitor ngayon na count, cumulative po, lahat po ito, 18 at natutuwa po kami na sa 18 po na ito, lima na po ang na-discharge, ang napalabas ng facility,” he said in a Laging Handa public briefing.
(Fortunately, we do not have a casualty. Our monitored count is 18 and of these, five were already discharged, sent out from the facility.)
According to Ignacio, the needs of Filipinos in Shanghai are directed to authorities for the latter to address.
As the overseas absentee voting is underway from April 10 to May 9, the voting precincts in Shanghai remained closed due to the threat of the COVID-19 surge.
Shanghai has confined millions of individuals inside their residences since March to address the COVID-19 outbreak.
