Despite the pandemic, The SM Store’s Share-A-Toy program collected 45,000 toys in December 2021. Customers and partner organizations donated new and pre-loved toys to The SM Store and Toy Kingdom branches nationwide. Customers received a P100 discount voucher for every donation courtesy of The SM Store.

The toys collected will be distributed to children from the SM Foundation and The SM Store partner organizations. Among the recipients in Metro Manila are pediatric patients from the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, and the Philippine General Hospital.

Recipients outside Metro Manila include non-government organizations such as the Heart Warriors Tarlac Chapter and the Islamic orphanages under the Arkat Lawanen network in Mindanao. Indigenous groups, the Mangyan community in Sipitsaburan, Puerto Galera, Palawan tribe in Brooke’s Point, and the Panay Bukidnon in Calinog, Ilo-ilo, will also receive toys from The SM Store’s Share A Toy program.

HSBC Global Service Centre Philippines and its employees shared 4,000 new toys and educational materials. Students of Doña Luisa Obieta Elementary School in Amungan, Iba, and the Sta. Martha Elementary School in Pangolingan, Palauig, will receive these donations. Both schools cater to the Aeta community in Zambales. Children of fishing folks from Panglit Elementary School will also receive toys and learning materials. Distribution will start this January in partnership with the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation.

The SM Store surprised kids from Inigan Elementary School by sharing toys, books, and school supplies

2021 a year of sharing

A day before Christmas, The SM Store distributed toys to more than 100 kids of Inigan Elementary School in Rizal, courtesy of Hasbro and Toy Kingdom.  The SM Store employees surprised the kids by setting up a makeshift department store in one of the classrooms. Kids shopped for free from Hasbro’s Share A Gift campaign’s selection of action figures, board games, and educational toys.

The SM Store employees from Ilo-ilo city traveled to the island of Guimaras to distribute books and school supplies collected from the Donate A Book program.

In addition to toys, The SM Store distributed books and school supplies to more than 100 community beneficiaries from public schools, daycare centers, pediatric hospitals, health centers, charitable and non-government institutions.

The SM Store’s Donate A Book program gathered over 130,000 books and school supplies from customers of participating The SM Store branches nationwide and partner organizations such as the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations of the Philippines; the Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges, and Universities; Learning Is Fun; Trailblazer Publications; the Philippine Commission on Women; and the National Council of Women in the Philippines.

Aeta indigenous community from Brgy. San Martin, Bamban, Tarlac was among the community beneficiaries in Central Luzon through We Are One Team Philippines.

The mission continues in 2022

The SM Store will continue to bring joy to communities through a series of corporate social responsibility programs with its customers, the SM Foundation, government, and non-government organizations.

To kick off the year, customers are invited to donate new or gently used clothes through its Share Your Extras program starting January 15 in participating branches of The SM Store. Share Your Extras is for the benefit of communities impacted by Typhoon Odette. Customers will receive a P100 discount voucher for every donation courtesy of The SM Store.
