MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine government has extended travel restrictions on incoming travelers from 10 countries until August 31 in a bid to prevent the entry and further spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced Friday that President Rodrigo Duterte approved the pandemic task force’s recommendation to extend the travel ban on the following countries:
-India
-Pakistan
-Bangladesh
-Sri Lanka
-Nepal
-United Arab Emirates
-Oman
-Thailand
-Malaysia
-Indonesia
The travel ban was supposed to lapse on August 15.
So far, the Philippines has detected 627 COVID-19 Delta variant cases.
