MANILA, Philippines — Filipino fishers rescued two Chinese fishermen off the coast of Palawan, an act for which the Chinese Embassy in Manila expressed “deep appreciation.”
In a statement, the Chinese Embassy in Manila said Philippine authorities immediately informed them of the incident, which happened Thursday night.
“On the night August 5, two Chinese fishermen who were in distress due to bad weather at sea were rescued by Philippine fishermen off the Palawan coast,” the embassy said.
The Chinese fishermen were rushed to Bataraza District Hospital for medical treatment, it noted.

“The Chinese Embassy expressed its deep appreciation to the Philippine fishermen and authorities concerned for providing humanitarian assistance to the Chinese fishermen in a timely manner,” the embassy further said.
It also viewed the Filipino fishermen’s act as a reflection of “their goodwill and the valuable friendship between the Chinese and Philippines peoples.”
