The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday advised travelers to Iraq, particularly personnel of international agencies and nongovernment organizations with humanitarian projects in the Middle Eastern country to postpone their trips.
“In the event that planned trips can no longer be postponed, all are reminded to check if there are active curfews currently imposed in your destination province in Iraq,” the DFA said in an advisory.
In the past days, suspected Shiite militias and terrorist groups launched rocket and mortar attacks in Baghdad and in Erbil, capital of Kurdistan.
The DFA maintains Alert Level 4 over Iraq where there is an ongoing mandatory repatriation of Filipino workers, and a ban on labor deployment. —Jerome Aning
