MANILA, Philippines — A total of 10,314 Filipinos overseas have contracted the new coronavirus disease or COVID-19 as of September 14, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday.
The latest tally is 133 cases higher from DFA’s Sunday case bulletin.
Meanwhile, 121 more overseas Filipinos defeated the respiratory illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 6,554.
The DFA said the rise in new cases and recoveries is “due to delays in reporting owing to privacy laws in one territory located in Asia and the Pacific. “
Four more Filipinos abroad, however, died of the disease in the Middle East. The death toll is now at 772.

In the Philippines, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 265,888 on Monday, of which, 207,504 recovered while 4,630 died.
SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus disease that causes respiratory illness COVID-19 that originated in Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province, has so far hit more than 29 million people worldwide.
