COVID-19 hits 65 more Filipinos abroad, says DFA

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Friday that 65 more Filipinos overseas contracted COVID-19.

The latest cases, DFA said, increased the total infections among Filipinos abroad to 9,472.

Of this sum, DFA noted that 3,275 are undergoing treatment while 5,531 have recovered or have been discharged. The death toll remains at 666 with no additional fatalities, the agency added.

DFA said the 65 new cases were recorded from Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.

“On this last day of July, the DFA reports an increase of 1.26% in the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from COVID-19 with 69 new recoveries in the Middle East, compared to yesterday’s figures,” it said.

In a breakdown, the DFA data showed that 6,745 Filipinos in the Middle East and Africa have been infected by COVID-19; 1,111 are in Europe; 911 are in the Asia Pacific region; and 705 are in the Americas.
