MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Monday 34 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) involving Filipinos abroad, bringing the total tally to 8,467.

The new cases came from Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East regions, the DFA noted.

The DFA also reported 10 new recoveries and nine new deaths among overseas Filipinos, bringing their totals to 5,091 and 547 respectively.

Middle East remains to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, recoveries, and fatalities among Filipinos abroad while Asia and the Pacific has the least numbers in all categories compared to other geographic regions.

COVID-19 — which was first detected in Hubei, China late last year — has already infected over 10.1 million people worldwide, killing over 500,000.
