Overseas Filipinos with COVID-19 now at 2,431 — DFA

MANILA, Philippines — There are now 2,431 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.

However, the DFA said that there are more recoveries newly recorded — particularly, 21 Filipinos in Asia, compared to only one fatality in the Middle East region.

This brings the total number of recoveries to 849, while the COVID-19 death toll of Filipinos overseas is at 280, the DFA added.

Out of the total number of cases, 1,302 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA also showed that Europe remains to be the region with the highest number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos, with 736 cases.

Meanwhile, the Middle East and African region has 705 COVID-19 cases among Filipinos, DFA records showed.

The DFA added that in the Asia Pacific Region, there were 447 Filipinos who got infected with the latest strain of coronavirus, while there are 543 confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos living in countries in the Americas region.

The World Health Organization previously declared the COVID-19 crisis a pandemic, as 4.9 million have been infected with the disease, of which 320,434 have died.

In the Philippines, there are now 12,942 confirmed cases, with 2,843 recoveries and 837 deaths.
