MANILA, Philippines—The United States government donated more medical supplies, worth at least P10 million, for Filipino health workers and others on the frontline of the battle against COVID-19.

US soldiers delivered the new batch of personal protective equipment and medical supplies to hospitals in 10 provinces with the help of their Filipino counterparts, the US Embassy in Manila said in a statement on Tuesday (May 19).

The donation, delivered with help from the US Embassy and Philippine Department of Health (DOH), would provide medical clinics from Luzon to Mindanao with PPE and other essential equipment to support those on the frontlines of the fight against coronavirus, the embassy said.

The supplies included disposable gloves, masks, medical clothing, various types of face protection, and tools such as infrared thermometers.

Over the next month, the embassy said the supplies would be distributed to 14 medical clinics, hospitals, and local health departments in the provinces of Palawan, Isabela, Tarlac, Laguna, Bataan, Bulacan, Sulu, Zamboanga del Sur, Maguindanao and Basilan.

The new donation brings the US government’s total COVID-19 assistance to the Philippines to more than P780 million.
