152 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19—DFA

MANILA, Philippines — One hundred fifty-two more Filipinos overseas have tested positive for the new coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, the foreign affairs department said Saturday.

The latest number of cases brings the total number of infected Filipinos abroad to 1,337, figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) showed.

DFA also documented nine new recovered patients which brings the total tally of recoveries to 328.

Meanwhile, seven more Filipinos abroad succumbed to the respiratory ailment. This brings the total number of deaths to 184.

DFA noted that most of the confirmed cases of overseas Filipinos were from the European region.

The highest number of recoveries, meanwhile, were from Asia and the Pacific.

Most of the fatalities due to COVID-19 were from the United States, DFA said.

The coronavirus disease, which was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization, has now affected 2.8 million people globally with more than 197,000 deaths and more than 780,000 recoveries.
