OTC conducts Southern Luzon Transportation Cooperatives Congress
MANILA, Philippines – The Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) held its third run of transportation cooperatives congress last November 14-15, 2019 at St. Jude Coop Hotel and Events Center in Tayabas, Quezon.
With the theme “Road to Recovery, Innovating Transport for Livable Community”, this congress is a response to the urgency to modernize the public transportation in line with the implementation of Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
A total of 224 participants representing 115 transport cooperatives attended Southern Luzon Transportation Cooperatives Congress. These participants came from Regions IV-A, IV-B, and V.
The speakers during the event were Senior Transportation Development Officer Eldon Joshua N. Dionisio, from Department of Transportation (DOTr); Attorney Winnie Fred C. Ola from Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Region IV; Engr. Jaime C. Borjal from Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region IV-A; Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist Bernadette Preciosa G. Hornilla from Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region IV; Program Officer Ronaldo R. Averion of Land Bank of the Philippines; Quezon Lending Center Head Violeta A. Dela Torre of Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP); Atty. Karmela Cassandra C. Garcia and Mr. Gemeniano V. Mase from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region IX-B; and Pag-IBIG Fund Representative Anna Liza B. Bien.
Various exhibitors were also present to showcase different models of modernized public utility vehicles (PUVs) in support to the Program.
Press conference was held on the second day wherein various local media participated.
The first and second run of transportation cooperatives congresses were held in Davao on March 2019, and Iloilo on October 2019, respectively. The fourth run of the transportation cooperatives congress will happen on December in Northern Luzon.
