OFW killed in Taiwan bridge collapse to be buried in Quezon
SAN PEDRO CITY –– The remains of one of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), who died after a bridge collapsed in Yilan, Taiwan, were brought home to his family in Atimonan, Quezon, an official of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said.
Ma. Luisa Reyes, OWWA director in Calabarzon, said the body of George Impang arrived in his hometown on Thursday.
His family planned to bury Impang on Oct.14, Reyes said on the sidelines of OWWA’s awarding of this year’s Model OWF Family here on Friday.
Impang was one of three Filipino fishermen, who died after the Taiwan bridge collapsed and hit fishing boats underneath it last week.
The government had also brought home the remains of Andree Serencio on Thursday.
The remains of the third Filipino fatality, Romulo Escalisas Jr., were scheduled to be repatriated on October 16.
The government assisted the victims’ families./lzb
