Injured OFWs in bridge collapse identified
MANILA, Philippines — Department of Labor department officials said on Tuesday that its officials in Taiwan were already in touch with the Filipino fishermen who were injured when a bridge collapsed and crushed their boat at Nanfang-ao, Yilan County.
“Philippine Overseas Labor Office officials visited the OFWs at the hospital, assessed their condition and extended immediate assistance,” the Labor Department said in a statement.
Reportedly injured were Julio S. Gimawa, Jason N. Villaruel and Allan H. Alcansano, who are being treated at Poai Hospital, and John Vicente Royo and June B. Flores who are confined at Rong min Hospital.
Taiwan’s news sources said another overseas filipino worker (OFW) was hurt. —Jovic Yee
