MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday said that 15 Filipino seamen in the oil/chemical tanker shattered by the Sept. 27 explosion in South Korea were safe after being evacuated with other crew members.

The Filipinos were among the crew of the Cayman Island-registered Stolt Groenland which was rocked by an explosion while berthed at Yeompo Quay in the port city of Ulsan.

The DFA said it was verifying reports that two Filipinos were among the nine injured seamen on Bow Dalian, a Singapore-registered vessel that caught fire in the explosion. —Jerome Aning
