MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Leni Robredo left for the United States and Canada for a series of speaking engagements.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Friday said that Robredo will be in Maryland on September 1 to speak at a charity ball organized by the ANCOP Foundation (USA), Inc., a partner of her Angat Buhay anti-poverty program.
On September 5, she will deliver the opening address at the 13th Toronto Global Forum in Ontario, Canada.
“VP Leni was invited to speak in the event by the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA), which aims to cultivate a culture of information-sharing and promote open discussions on major economic issues among government leaders, the private sector, international organizations, and civil society,” the OVP said in a statement.
“The Vice President is expected to share her views regarding the importance of fostering broader gender inclusion for economic growth,” it added.
Robredo will be in Los Angeles, California on September 8, to talk with her fellow University of the Philippines alumni at the 2019 Installation Ceremony and Endowment Fund-raising Gala of the UP Alumni Association of Greater Los Angeles (UPAAGLA).
“The event, held every two years, aims to raise funds for academic programs and capital improvement projects in UP campuses around the Philippines,” OVP explained.
“During the trip, Robredo will also be meeting Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, to discuss their respective advocacies and the initiatives of the Filipino-American community in the city.” /gsg
