MANILA, Philippines — Immigration agents recently arrested two Korean nationals wanted by law at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).

Hong Chan Woo, 24, and Jun Juman, 36 – considered fugitives as they are being pursued by authorities for derogatory criminal cases in their home country, were offloaded from their flights after immigration agents discovered their names in the Interpol’s wanted list.

The arrest of Hong and Jun has brought to six the total of Korean fugitives collared by BI for this month.

“They were about to leave the country when our immigration officers saw that their names were registered hits in Interpol database showing that they have derogatory criminal records in Korea,” BI Port Operations Division Chief Grifton Medina said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to Medina, Hong was bound for Jakarta while Jun was going to Hanoi when they were asked to leave the plane.

Atty. Rommel Tacorda, Chief of Border Control and Intelligence Unit (BCIU), said Hong has been wanted by authorities in Seoul for forging a private document and committing fraud.

A Korean court issued a warrant against Hong last August 7, he said.

Meanwhile, Jun was being hunted by authorities as he violated Korea’s game industry promotion act for engaging in online gaming activities in conspiracy with other suspects.

“Jun and his cohorts allegedly amassed large sums of money amounting to hundreds of millions of Won, which the victims deposited to their bank accounts, by converting it to game money,” BI said.

Hong and Jun were subsequently brought to the BI detention in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending their deportation proceedings. /kga
