MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday said it has yet to verify  information that the government of the Dominican Republic had provided passports to former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her family.

“We have not received any communication from DoJ on the matter,” said DFA spokesperson Raul Hernandez in a text message to the Inquirer.

Asked if the DFA could not act on its own, Hernandez said: “We need a basis for our actions, which should come from appropriate authorities.”
