DFA checking if Filipinos among victims in Los Angeles shooting
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Sunday that it is checking if any Filipinos were among the victims of the shooting in Los Angeles last Friday.
The DFA in a statement said that the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles is coordinating with the local authorities to determine if any Filipino were among those who were reported killed or injured in the shooting that left three people killed and four others wounded at a bowling alley in Torrance, which is about 32 kilometers from Los Angeles.
Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz said that there are approximately 4,000 Filipinos in Torrance, which is a coastal city with a population of 150,000.
Cruz noted that based in initial reports, the shooting took place following a brawl between two groups inside the Gable House Bowl and that authorities are still trying to identify the gunmen. /je
