No Filipino affected by Mt. Etna eruption in Italy — DFA

MANILA, Philippines — No Filipino was affected by the eruption of Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy on Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.

In an advisory, the DFA said that the department has been monitoring the Filipinos residing in the city of Sicily.

According to the record of the department, around 5,000 Filipino nationals are residing in the said area.

Since Mount Etna’s eruption, more than 100 earthquakes were already recorded by the authorities in Italy.

However, Italian authorities have not yet issued an evacuation order on its residents but hikers were already advised to go down from the mountain for safety purposes, the DFA said. /je
