MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advised Filipinos in Khartoum and other areas in Sudan to avoid going to public places and other areas affected by “social unrest.”
In a statement on Friday evening, the Philippine Embassy in Cairo reported to DFA that there is a possible social unrest in the area due to shortage in food, gasoline and transportation.
Philippine Ambassador to Egypt Sulpicio Confiado said the Embassy is monitoring the situation.
Confiado added that they will assist the estimated 3,000 Filipinos in Sudan who may be affected during the emergency situations. /jpv
