DFA: No Filipinos hurt in train crash in Ankara, Turkey

There are no Filipinos reported hurt or killed in a train accident in Turkey, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Thursday.

Nine people were killed and 47 were injured after a high-speed train crashed into a locomotive in Ankara, Turkey.

Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Ma. Rowena Sanchez told the DFA that no Filipinos were reported to be among those who died or were injured in the incident.

The DFA also extended its condolences to the families of the nine fatalities in the crash.

Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin said the train was on its way to Turkey’s central province, Konya.

The DFA also said search and rescue efforts are ongoing ad investigations will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident. /ee
