No Filipinos hurt in Iran quake — DFA
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) assured on Monday that no Filipinos were hurt after a strong quake hit Iran on Sunday evening.
“There are no Filipinos among the hundreds of people hurt after a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Iran’s western province of Kermanshah,” the DFA said in a bulletin report.
This was reported by Ambassador to Iran Wilfredo Santos after he contacted the 10 Filipinos living in the affected areas of the quake.
Based on the latest count, at least 716 individuals were reportedly injured in the earthquake. However, there were no reports of casualties.
The DFA said it will continue monitoring the situation in Iran and it is ready to send assistance to the country if needed.
“The Embassy will continue to monitor developments and stands ready to provide the necessary assistance,” it said. /ee
