DFA confirms arrest of 17 Filipinas in Saudi for joining Halloween party
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of 17 Filipinas in Saudi Arabia for participating in a Halloween party.
In a statement, the DFA said the Filipinas were arrested on Friday during a raid in a compound after neighbors complained of a loud noise.
The DFA said the 17 Filipinas are being held at the Al Nisa Jail in Riyadh, citing a report from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.
“According to Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto, Embassy officials have been requesting access to the detained Filipinas since their arrest was reported on Friday,” the DFA said.
Meanwhile, the DFA has reminded overseas Filipino workers to respect laws and traditions of their host countries. /muf
