Eight universities in the Philippines entered the 2019 list of London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings in Asia.
This time, the Mindanao State University joined the list in the 451-500 bracket.
Mapúa University also gained a spot in the rankings in the 401-450 bracket.
The University of the Philippines went up to 72, which was three points higher from last year’s 75.
Ateneo de Manila University, however, went down to 115 from last year’s 95.
De La Salle University’s place also decreased to 155 from last year’s 134.
University of Santo Tomas fell to 162 from 145, while the Silliman University went down from 2018’s 351-400 bracket to 451-500 bracket this year.
Meanwhile, University of San Carlos maintained itself in the 301-350 bracket.
The National University of Singapore topped this year’s roster, replacing Nanyang Technological University. The University of Hong Kong placed second.
The QS 2019 Asian Rankings assessed universities using 10 indicators, including academic staff qualified for postgraduate academic degrees and the “proportion of inbound and outbound of exchange students.” /atm
