Only 1 Filipino on death row in Indonesia – PH Embassy
BALI, Indonesia — There is only one Filipino on death row in Indonesia, according to the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta.
The embassy made the clarification in a statement issued, several hours after the Philippine ambassador to Indonesia, Leehiong Wee, told reporters at a press conference that there was another Filipina on death row also for a drug-related case in Semarang.

Wee had said that he was told of the case last week but had no further details.
The Philippine embassy in Jakarta said: “There is no Filipino sentenced to death in Semarang, Indonesia. The only Filipino that has been sentenced to death in Indonesia is Ms. Mary Jane Veloso who is presently detained in Yogyakarta not in Semarang.”
The embassy said that there is a Filipina in Semarang who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2011.
According to the embassy, it has been helping to seek the reduction of her life sentence to a fixed jail term. /atm
