A 22-year-old Filipino who works as a nanny has been charged with child molestation at a Dubai court, reports the Khaleej Times.
Her ward is an 8-year-old boy who is autistic and has speech difficulties. According to an Ethiopian maid working in the household, the nanny would take advantage of the child while their employer, a 43-year-old French housewife, was out of the country.
She allegedly witnessed the Filipino removing her shirt and making the boy touch her. When the maid reproached her, the nanny reportedly brought the boy inside a room and locked it. She said the defendant and the boy were often in a locked room.
However, she withheld the information initially because the defendant threatened to squeal on her relationship with a man and warned that she would beat her.
Her employer had her residence visa canceled after four months due to bad behavior. She noticed that her son acted “aggressively” and said “abusive words” after the nanny was gone. She said the boy even touched her mother “inappropriately.”
She told the prosecutor that she sought help from therapists because her son had become aggressive and upset without the nanny.
The employer reported the case to the police in April. A ruling will be delivered on July 25. Niña V. Guno /ra
