A Filipino domestic worker in Dubai faces three months in jail after she used another woman’s ID to enter a building, reports the Khaleej Times. The Court of First Instance meted out the sentence on June 26.

On April 9, the 40-year-old overseas Filipino worker, who was unidentified, was arrested after a security guard noticed she used an Emirates ID that did not belong to her. The OFW was attempting to enter an apartment for a cleaning job.

The security guard observed that the picture in the ID was different from her appearance and called in the police despite her insistence that it was her in the ID. During the investigation, she confessed that she used the ID because she was an illegal resident.

The offender was charged with misusing another person’s personal identification document and with misdemeanor for leaving work without cancellation of visa.

After serving her term, the woman will be deported.  Niña V. Guno /ra
