POEA: No jobs for domestics in Russia

/ 07:35 AM January 03, 2018

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) warned Filipino household service workers (HSWs) against illegal recruiters enticing them to work in Russia.

“There is no visa category in Russia for household service workers,” the POEA said in an advisory.

This means that Russia remains a closed market for Filipino HSWs for now.

The POEA issued the warning after getting reports of the growing cases of illegal recruitment of Filipino HSWs for deployment to Russia.

Citing a report from the Philippine Embassy in Athens, Greece, the POEA said many Filipino HSWs in Hong Kong, Singapore and the Middle East had already become victims of the scam. —Tina G. Santos
