China is offering emergency assistance for the relief and rescue of Filipinos devastated by typhoon “Vinta” (international name: Tembin).
Chinese President Xi Jinping, in a Xinhua news report posted on the Chinese embassy’s website, extended condolences and sympathies to President Rodrigo Duterte over the heavy casualty and material damage caused by Vinta, which swept across parts of southern Philippines.
Consequently, Xi said his government was “willing to offer emergency assistance to the disaster areas for rescue and relief.”
On Monday, Japan said it was standing with the Philippines in this time of difficulty and was ready to assist at the “maximum extent possible.”

Vinta started lashing parts of Mindanao on Friday, triggering massive flash flooding and mudslides. The typhoon left more than 200 people dead, about 170 missing and 70,000 people homeless. /cbb
