No classes in Metro on Nov. 16 and 17
Metro Manila mayors announced on Tuesday the suspension of classes in all levels on Nov. 16 and 17 due to the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) which the Philippines is hosting.
While the country’s hosting of the summit ends on Nov. 14, the 17 Metro mayors decided to suspend classes in both private and public schools as Asean delegates are expected to go around the National Capital Region.
Work in local government offices will continue, the mayors said after Tuesday’s meeting of the Metro Manila Council.
Meanwhile, authorities said that they were aiming for minimal traffic disruption during the summit.
A modified stop and go traffic scheme will be implemented, wherein one lane from the Clark International Airport in Pampanga to Conrad Hotel in Pasay City would be dedicated to Asean delegates.
