SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna—Two male Indian nationals were killed in a shootout with members of the police Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) in Imus City in Cavite province early morning on Thursday.

Imus police chief Supt. Norman Ranon said suspects Kumar Pardeep and an alias “Hunny” were killed in the shootout on Palanas Road in Barangay (village) Anabu 1G at around 3 a.m.

The police recovered a Philippine TIN (taxpayer identification number) ID from Pardeep that says he was a resident of Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

Ranon said the suspects were onboard a motorcycle when they shot it out with the police.

“Over the last two days, the police had been looking for and tailing them,” Ranon said.

He said the two foreigners were suspects in the recent cases of kidnap-for-ransom of their fellow Indian traders in the Philippines, based on information coming from the Camp Crame-based AKG.

Last month, Indian nationals Inderjit Singh, Rashpal Singh, with Filipino Wilbert Ong were also killed by the police in a checkpoint in Biñan City, Laguna. The police said the three were suspects in the abduction of Indian businessman Sanile Kumar Sohal.

“These (incidents) could be related,” Ranon said, but declined to further discuss the identities of the kidnap victims and their status. He said information as such are withheld by the AKG.
