6 South Koreans face cybercrime rap over illegal online gambling

/ 07:53 PM July 28, 2017

CEBU CITY – Six South Korean nationals are now facing complaints on cybercrime in relation to illegal gambling before the Mandaue City Prosecutors Office after they were caught in the act of manning and operating an online gambling portal without a license from a government regulating body.

The six suspects were among 13 South Korean nationals who were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) on Wednesday night in a residential subdivision in Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City.

NBI-7 special investigator Arnel Pura told Cebu Daily News that they only filed cases against six of the suspects since the other seven were asleep during the raid.

All of the 13 suspects will however remain under the custody of NBI-7, Pura said.
