President Duterte is expected to lead a series of meetings with regional leaders in the country next week to tackle pressing concerns including the South China Sea issue, when he debuts as host of the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit and related meetings.
The leaders of the Asean member states are expected to fly to the country for the events to be held from April 26 to 29.
Mr. Duterte will also have bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, according to Marciano Paynor Jr., chair of the ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council Director General for Operations.
