A Filipina maid in Hong Kong reportedly suffered injuries following a brawl with her employer’s visitor on Tuesday night.
According to Asia Times, which cited Oriental Daily and Sing Tao Daily, the 22-year-old helper was attacked by a visitor after she refused to open the security gate of her employer’s apartment in Kowloon. The woman, a 26-year-old resident of Hubei province, was asking for financial assistance from the maid’s employer, a married man.
The visitor brought along a four-year-old boy whom she claims was their son. Also, she furnished a copy of the boy’s birth certificate registered in Hong Kong to prove the employer’s paternity, the reports added.
However, the maid and her employer’s daughter halted the visitor’s entry to their home. The tension escalated when the visitor took a plastic pipe and destroyed the security gate, injuring the Filipina maid in the process.
The maid was rushed to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries on her feet. Police arrested the visitor for hitting the maid and the employer’s daughter for tearing up the boy’s birth certificate. The man was not at the apartment when the scuffle happened. Gianna Francesca Catolico/RA/AU
