Gov’t urged to save Pinay on death row in UAE
Groups from the religious and migrant workers sector are appealing to President Duterte to save the life of Jennifer Dalquez, a Filipino worker who is on death row in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In separate statements, the Promotion of Church Peoples’ Response (PCPR) and Migrante International urged the President to save the Filipino woman, who was sentenced to death for killing her employer.
“We appeal to President Duterte to exert every effort to rescue Jennifer from her current travails. She was the victim of assault, preyed upon because of her vulnerability as a migrant woman,” the Church-backed PCPR said.
Dalquez, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in the UAE, was sentenced to death last May 2015 for the December 2014 killing of her employer.
The OFW claimed it was in self-defense as her employer allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
