An overseas Filipino worker in a money exchange center Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was arrested after he was caught through a CCTV footage stealing Dh1,000 (P13,570) from a customer, Khaleej Times reported on Monday.

Last Nov. 3, the Filipino man received Dh 2,000 from a Chinese customer. He dropped a Dh 1,000 bill and approached the Chinese customer, explaining that he only received Dh1,000. The Chinese customer handed him another Dh1,000.

Meanwhile, The National reported that a Jordanian administrative executive had testified that he saw the Filipino snitching another Dh1,000 from the accountant’s money box when the employee took a toilet break.

The suspect’s crime was caught on CCTV that day and the Filipino admitted his crime after the video was reviewed. “He waited until the employee went to the toilet and took the money from the register. When we reviewed the footage, he confessed to taking the money and never paying it back,” the 38-year-old executive told authorities.

The suspect has been charged with theft at the Dubai Criminal Court. A verdict will be released on Jan. 16.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
